Franklin Yonamu

Franklin Yonamu is Head of Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (PMER) for the Malawi Red Cross Society, leading a team of five. In that role, he supports program design, planning and implementation, and leads monitoring, evaluation and learning functions for all programs. Franklin has designed and implemented community health projects covering HIV and AIDS prevention; care and support of various groups, including groups at greater risk, such as those likely to engage in multiple sexual relationships; maternal and child health (MCH); water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH); and nutrition and food security.

He provides technical advice to program managers in program design, planning and implementation, including designing program M&E plans; conducts capacity building through training, coaching and mentoring of M&E staff; leads evaluative activities lead, internal data quality assessments and overall management of institutional databases.

Franklin led the implementation of an HIV and AIDS behavioral change intervention with Save the Children, serving as Capacity Building and Community Mobilization Manager responsible for a team of 14 district-based staff. As member of Senior Management Team, Franklin ensured that stakeholders were well informed of programs implementation progress.

Having managed programs funded by some of the country's major donors, including the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Franklin has practical experience in grants management, financial management, coordinating consortia, resource mobilization and proposal and report writing. Franklin has key skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution, skills to work in a multi-cultural environment, and partnering skills.

Franklin was a Centers for Disease Control (CDC)/College of Medicine Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Fellow, having successfully completed a postgraduate fellowship in Leadership and Management covering health systems strengthening, health policy analysis and project cycle management with a focus on monitoring and evaluation.
